AUTISM ASSESSMENTS Leatherhead
Gold Standard Autism assessments
for children, adolescents, and adults from Leatherhead. Our evidence-based ASC assessments follow NICE guidelines and provide accurate, reliable diagnoses recognised across the UK.
Autism looks different in every person who lives with it. It is shaped by personality, life experience, gender, and the strategies individuals develop over time to navigate a world that was not designed with them in mind. That variability is precisely why a thorough, individually focused assessment matters. Cookie-cutter processes miss nuance. A properly conducted assessment captures it.
Why Choose Our Autism Assessments?
At Sage Psychology, our autism assessments are delivered by clinicians with specialist expertise in ASC across children, adolescents, and adults. We follow a structured, multi-disciplinary approach that meets NICE guidelines, and we take the time each individual assessment requires. Our goal is not simply to reach a conclusion, but to produce findings that are accurate, well-evidenced, and genuinely useful to the people we work with.
What Makes a High-Quality Autism Assessment
Our ASC assessments include all of the following components recommended by NICE:
Comprehensive developmental history
We explore early developmental milestones, social communication patterns, and behavioural history in depth, drawing on recognised diagnostic criteria throughout.
In-depth exploration of concerns
Structured observational and interactive assessment elements draw on validated diagnostic tools, ensuring that findings are grounded in robust clinical evidence rather than impression alone.
Direct assessment of communication and interaction
All diagnostic conclusions are reviewed by more than one clinician before any findings are confirmed, providing an essential check on accuracy and consistency.
Medical and family background review
Physical health history is considered as part of the full picture, with GP referral arranged where clinically appropriate.
Differential diagnoses consideration
We assess carefully whether autism most accurately explains an individual's experiences, or whether other explanations should be considered alongside or instead.
Screening for co-occurring conditions
Anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation difficulties, and sensory processing differences are screened for throughout, as these frequently present alongside autism.
Strengths-based diagnostic reporting
Our reports identify individual strengths alongside challenges and provide tailored, practical recommendations relevant to the person's specific circumstances and goals.
Detailed feedback session
Findings are explained clearly and in full, with dedicated time for questions and a collaborative discussion about next steps.
We are proud to say
We meet all of the above criteria
Our autism assessments are designed to give individuals and families a complete, reliable, and genuinely useful outcome.

If we feel an autism assessment is not the most suitable next step, we will recommend an alternative—such as a different type of assessment or a tailored therapy approach.
