Gold-Standard ADHD assessments for children and adolescents in Epsom, Wimbledon, and online.

Helping your child thrive, not just survive.

The ADHD Paradox: Why it isn’t always obvious

If your child has ADHD, you’ve likely noticed that their struggle isn’t a lack of ability, but rather a lack of consistency. It can feel like you’re parenting two different children depending on the day (or the hour). If your child’s behaviour feels like a puzzle of confusing extremes, an ADHD assessment is often the first step in making the pieces fit together.

The focus paradox:

They can hyper-focus on a passion project for hours, yet they can’t "just sit still" for five minutes of homework. Revising for GCSEs can feel impossible, until they spend the whole night before cramming.

This is because ADHD isn't an inability to focus; it's an inability to selectively regulate that focus.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde:

One day they are bright, motivated, and ready. The next, the simplest instruction, like putting on shoes, triggers a battle.

This is because ADHD affects executive functioning Some days the brain's "operating system" just won't boot up, no matter how much they want it to.

The Masking collapse:

They are "good" and quiet at school, but as soon as they get home, they have an emotional meltdown.

This is because They have spent all day using every ounce of energy to "fit in." Home is the only place they feel safe enough to let the exhaustion out. At times they can be the life and soul of the party; other times they need hours alone.

High potential, low performance

They are clearly bright and creative, yet their school reports say they are "drifting" or "not reaching their potential."

This is because an ADHD brain is interest-based, not importance-based. If a task doesn't spark a dopamine hit, the brain literally goes "offline.

Living with these contradictions is costly for both you and your child. An assessment of ADHD is not just about a diagnosis. It is about gaining a thorough understand of your child’s unique brain, so that you can set them up with the tools they need to play to their strengths and support their challenges.

How does it work?

Keeping assessments simple and accessible

We know how overwhelming it is to look for an ADHD assessment. We have designed our process to be as clear and supportive as possible, so you can follow one simple step at a time.

Step 1

Book a Discovery call

This is a 20 minute chat via Zoom with Dianne Everitt to look at your child’s history and current challenges. We’ll determine if an ADHD assessment is the right path, or if another direction would serve you better. Your child does not need to attend this appointment, but if they are over the age of 16 and would like to attend, they are welcome.

Step 2

The comprehensive assessment

Once we’ve confirmed the pathway, we’ll guide you through the paperwork and then meet for a 3 hour clinical interview. We would like both you and your child to be available during this appointment. We take a deep-dive into your child’s story, their struggles, and their unique strengths. The appointment can be in person or online.

Step 3

Your results and roadmap

Three to four weeks after your assessment, we’ll meet for a feedback session. You’ll receive a comprehensive report that is NICE-compliant and widely accepted. Our reports provide more than a diagnosis. We give you a tailored roadmap with clear recommendations for parents, the young person and the school to implement. If your child is diagnosed, they will be eligible for exam concessions.

What a Gold-Standard Assessment looks like

If we were looking for a top-quality assessment for one of our family members, we would look for these eight clinical essentials:

The expertise rule

With over 10 years of experience, a clinician becomes an expert, rather than a generalist.

a 3-hour deep dive

Anything less than this is not enough to reach a thorough, evidence based diagnosis.

A Holistic View

We look beyond ADHD to see the whole picture of your child’s mental health, ensuring nothing else being missed.

A team approach

Although a team approach is not required for ADHD assessments, we like to have regular peer reviews within our team, to increase the rigor of our results.

Evidence based tools

We use "Gold-Standard" validated questionnaires to ensure our findings are backed by data.

NICE-guideline compliant

This is the "North Star" for UK healthcare, ensuring reports meets the standards of the NHS.

Multiple Perspectives

We don’t just rely on your account; we consider the child’s account of their experience, and collect information from the school setting.

Offers a feedback session

We don’t just email you a report. We sit down with you to explain the "why" behind your results and help you plan your next steps as part of your roadmap.

We are proud to say

we meet all of the above criteria

In all of our assessments, we follow the guidelines set out by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Our Gold-Standard assessments ADHD assessments in Wimbledon and Epsom are rigorous, regulated, ethical, and widely accepted by the NHS and across the UK.

ADHD in girls

ADHD can present very differently in girls, and is much more likely to go unnoticed. This is because girls are wired differently, and develop coping strategies that cover up their difficulties.

For many girls, the symptoms of ADHD are mostly inward, rather than outward. We don’t tend to see ADHD obviously in their behaviours. We see it in a restless mind that can’t switch off. We see it in perfectionism and unrealistically high standards. We see it in hyperfocus in certain areas and exceptional performance, and the inability to put pen to paper when something doesn’t grab their attention, despite their best efforts. We see it show up as anxiety that hides the inner chaos of ADHD. We see emotions escalating so rapidly and catching even them by surprise.

Our ADHD assessments in Wimbledon, Epsom and online are tailored for girls, and we know how to spot the hidden signs of executive dysfunction.

Post-Diagnostic Support

Following a diagnosis of ADHD, you may want to work with ONE OF our psychologists

in London, Wimbledon, Epsom or online, who understands the nuances of ADHD well.

Getting a diagnosis of ADHD is a big process and there is a lot to work through. Our Psychologists are skilled in helping you understand what a diagnosis means, and how to make changes in your life to support your needs.

The support process can involve working with parents to better equip them, and/or working directly with the young person.

Unsure about whether to have an assessment?

We have put together an evidence-based ADHD screener for young people (under 18), that you can take for free to see if your child meets the threshold.
