Hello,
I’m Dianne

Clinical
Psychologist and founder of sage psychology

I have been working with mental health since 2010 and specialise in working with high-achievers, high-functioning anxiety, and ADHD.

  • I am what I call a ‘why’ person, and spent most of my younger years trying to figure out why certain aspects of life left me feeling stuck.

My curiosity combined with my desire to maximise my own potential in life, led to a progression where psychology found me as a career, and it felt like a natural fit.

  • High-achievers

    High-functioning anxiety

    Self-doubt

    Perfectionism

    Burnout

    Imposter syndrome

    Relationship difficulties

    ADHD

  • I am easy going, down to earth, with a good sense of humour. My style in therapy is collaborative, engaging, and informal.

I value authenticity and thrive on a good problem to solve. I consider myself a ‘big picture’ thinker who is competent and efficient.

  • I use an integrative approach drawing on a range of theories, depending on what my client’s presenting problem is. These include Systemic Psychology, Narrative Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Fundamentally I have two guiding beliefs: the therapeutic relationship is the most important vehicle for change, and the ‘why’ is often more important than the ‘what’ we do.

  • I qualified as a Psychologist from the University of South Africa in 2012. I worked for the South African Military service as an intern, and then for one of the largest medical hospitals in Southern Africa. I moved to the UK in 2015 and spent three years working for the NHS in a specialist service for medically unexplained symptoms and long term conditions.

In 2018 I left the NHS and have built a thriving private practice that I love working in. I now work predominantly with high-achievers who struggle with high-functioning anxiety, as well as ADHD in adults.

  • When I’m not working you will find me spending time with my three spirited children, walking my dog, educating myself about all things related to health and mental health, or honing my creative skills.

Hello,
I’m Lindsay

Counseling Psychologist

I work with high achieving adults who struggle with anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, and ADHD. I have specialist training in Relationship Therapy and Brain Based therapy.

  • After qualifying as a psychologist in 2010, I was fortunate enough to get experience in a range of settings, from hospitals to couples therapy, student support and employee wellness. I’ve always loved learning, and have completed additional training which allows me to offer broad yet bespoke intervention to my clients.

  • I am warm, easy going, and curious. I work in a concrete, direct and collaborative way with my clients. The interventions I use are tailor-made to suit the needs of my clients and help them develop self-awareness, healthy emotional boundaries, and coping skills.

  • I work from a Person-Centred approach, drawing on Systems Theory, Interactional Pattern Analysis, Imago Relationship Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Brain-Works Recursive Therapy (BWRT) and Brain-Based Therapy. My job is to understand the person as a system, the person in a system, and the system in context, in order to offer meaningful therapeutic work.

  • I earned my qualification from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2010 and completed my internship at McCord Hospital in Durban. Over the years, I've worked in various healthcare settings and have been in full-time private practice for the past eight years, initially focusing on couples therapy as a certified Imago Therapist. Currently, I specialize in helping adolescents and adults with relationship issues, trauma, grief, and anxiety, and I've recently developed an interest in Brain-Based Therapy, which emphasizes the autonomic nervous system and our experiences of connection and protection.

  • Along with fulfilling my role as a wife and mum to two children, I share a love of dogs, being in the outdoors, and connecting with nature.

Hello,
I’m Ellen

Clinical Psychologist

I work predominantly with high achievers who are struggling with high functioning anxiety and perfectionism. I also work with trauma, and relationship difficulties. I draw from various theories, including CAT, and I have worked in an Autism service on the NHS.

  • My journey into the field of mental health has been a personal one, as I witnessed my sister struggle with her mental health from a young age. This sparked a desire in me to develop resources to support people with such difficulties, and the journey lead me to pursuing a career doing so. I consider myself privileged to be in a position where I can support people in their quest for better mental health. I believe the the right support can make a significant difference when facing mental health difficulties, and I love my work.

  • In my clinical practice, I often adopt a direct and transparent approach, as I've observed that individuals value honesty, enabling us to efficiently delve into the core of the issues. As a visual thinker, I utilise imagery and metaphors to enhance communication and understanding during therapeutic sessions. I welcome feedback and am open to exploring alternative methods, recognizing therapy as a dynamic and collaborative process that evolves over time.

  • I use an integrative approach, meaning that I draw upon a number of therapy models to best suit the individual.

I've found that adopting a relational approach and using the therapeutic relationship can be really helpful in understanding difficulties and in exploring change. I acknowledge the importance of tailoring communication and interpersonal style to fit with each individual, including the consideration of neurodiversity. I incorporate aspects from the following models in my work: Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment based Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

  • I am a Clinical Psychologist, registered with the HCPC (PYL039909). I have extensive experience in a range of NHS mental health settings, as well as numerous research publications. In my current NHS practice, I support individuals who suffer with a range of difficulties including trauma, which can present itself in relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, low self esteem or a sense of feeling stuck. I specialise in psychological formulation, a method that supports individuals to explore connections between their past and present. Formulation offers individuals an understanding of their difficulties and guides effective strategies for change. Through collaborative work with individuals, my aim is to enhance understanding and facilitate meaningful changes within a relatively short period of time.

  • Outside of therapy, I am a wife and mum. I am a down-to-earth person who loves the outdoors. I have a curious nature and love travelling and immersing in different cultures. I enjoy being creative, engaging in baking, crafts and crochet.

Hello,
I’m Leila

Counselling Psychologist

With 14 years’ experience, I specialise in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) which focuses on early attachment trauma and how this contributes to psychological development and drives the difficulties experienced in the present.  I am also a BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT) practitioner. I work with high achieving adults and Autism and ADHD.

  • I have always been a deep thinker and very sensitively attuned to the feelings of others. During childhood I was particularly fascinated by the thinking and behaviour of those close to me and how this related to how I understood myself.  After studying Classics and Psychology at university, I spent my early adulthood travelling, volunteering and working in roles where I helped others who were struggling emotionally. I was drawn to counselling psychology where I professionally formalised my experience. Becoming a psychologist made intuitive sense to me, and means I can do what I love most everyday.

    High achievers

    Anxiety

    Depression

    Attachment & specific trauma

    Grief

    Life transitions

    Neurodivergence (Autism and ADHD)

    Relationship difficulties

  • Attachment and relational theories are the foundations upon which I approach my therapeutic work. I mainly draw on my specialist training and experience in Attachment-Based Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapist (AB-ISTDP) which is a form of therapy that is both structured and exploratory depending on which stage the client is at on their therapeutic journey. I also work integratively to tailor the therapy to the unique needs of each client. I am further trained in BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) which can be beneficial for specific trauma and phobias.

I believe that a good quality therapeutic relationship in addition to a strong working alliance, are at the heart of growth, development and long-lasting change.

  • I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy and Mindfulness-based methods.

  • I qualified as a Counselling Psychologist in South Africa in 2011 and have worked both privately and in the public sector in South Africa and the UK. I have built a strong foundation from working with a diverse and wide-ranging client base across the lifespan. This experience has given me a robust understanding of human development, and in particular the importance of early attachment patterns on the young people and adults we become. I now use this understanding and experience to focus specifically on the unique needs of adult clients.

  • Outside of my work, I can be found running or hiking with my dog in nature, or with my head buried in a book. I love music, art and photography, and approach life with energy, creativity and pragmatism.

  • I grew up as an observer and a thinker, and was always interested in understanding and helping people.  I was inspired to be a Clinical Psychologist whilst reading an Oliver Sacks books during my first year at university studying psychology and philosophy. I loved the way that he talked about people with such compassion, something which I try to do in my own practise.  I qualified in 2008, and have worked in both the UK and UAE since then.

Hello,
I’m Kelly

Counselling Psychologist and TRE Practitioner

I work with Neurodiversity (Autistic Spectrum Disorder and ADHD), trauma and anxiety, in children, adolescents and adults.I am additionally trained in brain-based therapies, and as a trauma release exercise (TRE) practitioner.

  • I fell in love with Psychology (and English) during my first year of university. This love of learning about the human mind continued for over a decade, with many segways for travel, corporate work, teaching/lecturing, and getting married. In 2013 I qualified and registered as a Counselling Psychologist and have since worked in both schools with young people, and in private practice with adults. Throughout my journey in this field, I have been in constant awe of people's ability to overcome their challenging circumstances and the bravery they find or forge to create a future of their choice. I feel privileged to walk alongside such journeys.

  • Children, adolescents  and adults

    Autism and ADHD

    Anxiety

     Somatic Body Therapy

    Trauma

  • I am down to earth, containing, with a few little quirks and good humour thrown in. I value honesty and integrity, both of which you will receive from me. I am passionate about empowering people to help themselves, discover their strengths, and be the author of their own stories.

  • I’m very flexible in my therapeutic approach, deciding on the best way forward with each client after adequate consultation. Despite being Psychodynamically trained, I have become more and more drawn to Somatic therapies taking into consideration the mind-body connection. Learning to regulate one's nervous system allows us to better relate with others and to access difficult emotions. Other modalities I use include Person-Centred Therapy, Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT), Solution-Focussed Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE). I also enjoy using poetry and art with those who are open to it and games/play with younger children.

  • I qualified in South Africa is 2013, and have worked in a multitude of settings (hospitals, primary/high schools, private universities and private practice), predominantly with young peopl, as a qualified Psychologist, School Counselor, and teacher. My autistic son has been an incredible teacher and has provided me with the unique perspective of mom, teacher and psychologist. My additional training in Brain-based and Somatic interventions has been very useful in treating adults and children alike, especially those experiencing high levels of anxiety or trauma (a common concern for neurodivergent people living in a predominantly neurotypical world).

  • I am a wife, mom, and educator with a love of bright colours, quirky jewellery, yoga and creating art.

Hello,
I’m Lu

Counseling Psychologist

I work with young people and adults with a range of difficulties, including anxiety, trauma, autism and ADHD, eating disorders, and long term conditions.

  • I became a psychologist when I found myself overanalysing everything and decided I might as well get paid while I was at it! I've always been fascinated by what makes people tick—and sometimes explode—and I wanted to help untangle the complications and confusion we all seem to carry around. Plus, it’s the only profession where asking, “how are you doing?” multiple times a day is not only acceptable, it is encouraged.

Most importantly, I really enjoy hearing people’s stories and I find it amazing to help them create new ones—stories which are a much better fit.

  • Children & young people

    Adults

    High achievers

    Trauma

    LGBTQ+ community

    Neurodiversity

    Self harm

    Eating disorders

Long term mental health diagnoses (eg. Bipolar, Personality Disorder, Psychosis, CPTSD)

  • My therapeutic style is warm and engaging, combining a sense of humour with compassion, empathy and sometimes a little bluntness. I believe that humour (with a touch of sarcasm) can be a powerful tool for connection and insight. It helps to create a safe space where you can feel comfortable to really open up. Equally, it’s important to gently challenge unhelpful patterns or encourage deeper reflection when needed. I enjoy supporting people on their journey toward reaching personal goals, and I find great fulfilment in helping people build confidence, resilience, and a stronger sense of self along the way.

  • I like to work from a person-centred style and integrate different theoretical models such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

Ultimately, we will blend different approaches to help you get you where you want to be, whether that is developing understanding, creating coping strategies or making sustainable changes.

  • I trained as a Therapist in 2008 and later qualified as a Counselling Psychologist in 2013. I’ve worked in a variety of settings including the NHS, private healthcare and in children’s health. I have experience working in CAMHS and looked-after services, forensic settings, supporting people with eating disorders, and working in specialist inpatient hospitals. I have been working independently for a number of years and this allows for greater flexibility, autonomy in clinical decision-making, and the ability to tailor therapeutic approaches to best meet each client’s unique needs.

  • My dog – who you will probably see and will definitely hear about!

I have a campervan and enjoy travelling around and experiencing new places and, particularly, searching out new bakeries (one day, I will find the perfect croissant!). I spend a lot of time reading, scowling at the weeds in the garden, and trying out different hobbies: my current focus is experimenting with chocolate: making and, more importantly, eating them!

Outside of work, I’ve now retired my running shoes (having completed a half marathon and sprint triathlon) and prefer more gentle pursuits like walking by the sea, playing tennis and yoga.

Hello,
I’m Jackie

Clinical Psychologist

I work with high achieving adults who struggle with a range of difficulties. I am dual qualified as a Psychologist and a coach, as well as EMDR trained, and work with ADHD.

  • I am excited to be dual trained and work  as both a clinical psychologist and leadership/systems coach. This reflects my career journey to date working extensively with adult therapy clients, but also with leaders and the dynamic interface between the personal and professional. I have had a long career in the NHS, most recently as Chief Psychologist (Consultant Clinical Psychologist). My first degree was English Literature, which I think equipped me well to listen, and critically reflect, on the stories of others. I think this, combined with an evidence-based training and doctorate  in clinical psychology, has set me up well to enjoy the privilege of therapy and coaching work.

  • Adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout and perfectionism and the challenges of living with a long -term condition. I am also experienced in working with ADHD in adults.

As I have worked as a very senior leader, and am dual trained as a leadership/systems coach, my skill set is well suited to working with the dynamic and  interface where the professional meets the personal.

  • People tell me my style is warm and collaborative, and that I am particularly skilled in facilitating  a strong sense of psychological safety which allows people to thrive. I always work to high professional standards,   but am also pragmatic and enjoy humour as part of my work.

  • My significant experience as a consultant clinical psychologist, and trainer of both clinical psychologists and CBT therapists, means I am well placed to  draw on a range of evidence-based models. These include cognitive behavioural, schema, EMDR, brief psychodynamic approaches and systemic approaches.

  • I qualified in 1999 and have since gained a wide range of experiences in both the NHS and private practice, primarily working with adults, supervising other practitioners and leading services. My doctorate studies investigated burnout and vicarious trauma on health care workers and reflects a career long interest in trauma and wellbeing in the workplace, including supporting those who identify as experiencing high functioning anxiety and /or depression. I worked as a clinical and academic tutor, trainer, and examiner on both the Clinical Psychology doctorate and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy programmes at Salomons ( Christchurch University) and I always work to the highest professional standards and boundaries of both the clinical psychology and coaching professions. My role as Chief Psychologists included leading one of the highest performing NHS Talking Therapies services in the UK as well overseeing the staff wellbeing offer which was launched in response to COVID-19.

  • My kids are now all grown up so I enjoy newfound time to swim, play tennis and the violin in a local community orchestra.

I specialise in neurodiversity, trauma and inner child work with adolescents and adults. If you recognise feelings of shame or guilt, feel like you have to be self-sufficient, or are driven by anxiety, we will work well together.

  • Although I initially thought I would become a journalist due to my passion for people’s stories, after attending a first-year psychology course I quickly realised Psychology was my calling. I truly love the work I do and feel blessed to do it.

  • I would describe my style as empathetic, modest, warm, transparent and intuitive. I believe that psychology has something to offer everyone when it’s applied appropriately - it all starts with finding the right therapist.

  • I use an integrative approach, which means I draw on a number of theories to help me tailor therapy to meet your needs. These include CBT, Narrative Therapy, Trauma-informed Therapy, Progressive Muscle Relaxation and Mindfulness. I pride myself on working in an evidenced-based way, drawing on current research and best practice.

  • My experience includes Trauma and Neurodevelopmental Conditions (Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) across the lifespan. I have worked at Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) as well as several schools in Sutton. At Southwest London and St Georges I focused Autism and ADHD assessments and therapeutic interventions. I have done public inquiries and worked in the civil service, predominantly on the Truth project. I have also lectured and enjoy developing and implementing training. At present I'm doing a PhD at the University of Essex, with a focus on trauma.

Hello,
I’m Doug

Counselor and student specialist

I specialise in working with people between the ages of 14 - 25, who are struggling with the demands of life, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. I also work with Autism and ADHD, offering structured guidance where needed

  • After experiencing the impactful role of counseling in my final year at school, I was determined to position myself in a role where I could offer help. After working with neurofeedback and in the corporate world, I progressed on to working with teens and young adults almost exclusively. This path has led to lifelong learning and opportunities and relationships I could never have imagined, if I’d stuck to the path of… pyrotechnics.

  • 14 - 25 year olds

    Autism and ADHD

    Trauma

    Anxiety

    Student Support

    Self esteem

    Depression

  • My therapeutic style is honest, supportive, and pragmatic. I integrate multiple philosophies and methodologies, tailoring my approach to each individual’s unique needs and circumstances. Recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to personal and interpersonal challenges, I collaborate with clients to foster growth, resilience, and meaningful change.

  • I draw predominantly from CBT-informed approaches, ecosystemic, and person centered principles. I believe that the mind-body connection is imperative, and incorporate TRE (Trauma and Tension Releasing Exercises) to support somatic healing. I believe that the starting point is always to deeply understand each client’s unique needs, experiences, and context.

  • Having registered in 2010, I have spent the last 15 years working in a variety of settings, from not-for-profit trauma centres and corporate settings to private practice and educational facilities. Much of my early work exposed me to the fascinating world of neurodiversity and sparked a lifelong interest in neurobiology and its role in our psychology. I have developed a passion for working with teens and young adults and take a special interest in the world of the neurodiverse.

  • When I’m not in a therapeutic setting, you’ll find me spending time with my wife and kids, cycling, working with my hands, educating and being educated, creating or fixing and spending time in ‘the outdoors’.
